The buoy takes measurements every 15 minutes and transmits the data to the central, online database every half hour.
The automatic measuring buoy, which was recently (re)installed by experts due to extreme weather and drastically decreasing water levels, is continuously monitoring the water quality of Lake Velence. The device provides real-time data to help detect adverse ecological processes early, so that intervention can be made if necessary before the situation worsens.
It was already evident at the end of spring that there would be trouble with the water of Lake Velence. It turned out to be true: due to the falling water level, the salt content of the lake water was extremely high, while picoalgae proliferated massively, and high chlorophyll-a levels were measured in the eastern basin.
