- After IS militants overran Sinjar in August 2014, she spent about two-and-a-half years in IS captivity in northern Iraq, separated from her husband during the attack.
- At a market she and five other women were paraded to be sold as sex slaves, with a Saudi buyer raping her before selling her to Essid; she had eight "owners" and spent around 40 days under Essid's control.
- Because there is no proof of his death, Sabri Essid remains on trial in absentia for crimes between 2014 and 2016, with Presiding Judge Marc Sommerer saying 'But what you've just told us, I've never heard before.'
- Escaping during a captor's absence, she fled with another Yazidi woman and her two-year-old daughter, reached Kurdish forces concealed under a niqab, then left Iraq and said 'It's for my daughter's future'.
