XL Bully dog attack in Jaywick killed rapper's mother-in-law
- On February 3, 2024, Ashley Warren, 41, is accused after two XL bully dogs killed 68-year-old Esther Martin at his home on Hillman Avenue in Jaywick, Essex.
- Prosecutor Christopher Paxton KC says Warren asked the 5ft 3in woman to mind the dogs so he could travel to London to film a music video, despite her mobility issues and little experience.
- Jurors were shown evidence that police and emergency services couldn't enter until tasers were used due to Beauty and Bear's frenzied state; two dogs were shot.
- At trial, Warren has pleaded not guilty to ownership of the dog Bear and will argue he reasonably believed Ms Martin was fit to be in charge, Chelmsford Crown Court heard.
- Evidence shows Warren had not sought exemption certificates for any of the 10 dogs despite knowing the widely covered XL bully ban, and police footage from 11 days earlier captured him claiming `my boy’s got papers already`, which prosecutors say was a lie.
