Wreaths Across America held at Daysville Cemetery

On National Wreaths Across America Day, volunteers placed over 3 million wreaths at 4,900+ U.S. cemeteries to honor veterans' sacrifices and keep their stories alive.

  • On Dec. 13, volunteers nationwide placed holiday wreaths on veterans' graves during National Wreaths Across America Day, including at West Virginia, Fayetteville, and Great Lakes National Cemeteries.
  • For many volunteers, personal loss and family connections drive participation, as Jannie Lanyne’s son is buried at Fayetteville and Robert Gaba, Army veteran, has attended for 14 years.
  • In Syracuse, volunteers set 3,600 wreaths at Howlett Hill Road veterans' cemetery, a fourfold increase, while Ellen McCauley said around 1,000 volunteers showed up to help.
  • Musical tributes and youth color guards underscored the day's remembrances, while Clearfield Honor Guard and active-duty service members performed salutes and wreath presentations, and family members placed more than 900 wreaths.
  • Organizers have set Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 as the wreath removal day, and Gigi Gearhart said the ceremony will return next year with a goal exceeding 6,000 wreaths.
