The resistance started on August 10th by workers of Elazığ Eti Gümüş and Doruk Madencilik, affiliated with Yıldızlar SSS Holding, continues as they demand payment of their wages and compensation. During the protest in front of the ministry, one worker's torn shoes drew attention, highlighting the economic hardship faced by the miners.
Breaking news... On the 12th day of the miners' protest in front of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in Ankara, one worker fell ill and was taken to the hospital.
While the struggle of Doruk Mining workers for their rights and outstanding payments has exceeded three weeks, the promised payments have once again gone unfulfilled. Stating that the payments have been postponed, Maden-İş announced that they will continue the struggle until all outstanding payments are settled, saying, "Our worst fears have come true."
Yıldızlar SSS Holding claimed that the miners protesting in Ankara had received their full payments. However, Başaran Aksu, an independent mining union organizing expert, stated that the payments had not been made and asked, "If you paid them, why weren't the miners informed?"
Workers from Doruk Mining have been protesting for 27 days in front of Yıldızlar SSS Holding for payment of their severance pay and other legal entitlements. Following a meeting, the union president announced that they would not leave Ankara until all their outstanding payments were made in full.
