Woman Tased by Cops After Cinema Stabbing
Police say officers found the woman still armed with a knife after the stabbing, and the man was taken to hospital in stable condition.
On Monday at 11.40am, a 27-year-old woman allegedly stabbed a 48-year-old man in the hand outside the Dendy Newtown cinema in Sydney's inner-west.
Officers located the woman armed with a knife shortly after; "Police directed the woman to drop the knife," a police spokeswoman said, but when she allegedly failed to comply, a taser was used and she was arrested.
Emergency responders treated the victim for serious hand injuries at the scene before transporting him to a hospital in stable condition; the suspect was transferred to the Newtown Police Station for further inquiries.
King Street remains closed in both directions between Wilson Street and Church Street as an active crime scene, with buses and vehicles being diverted away from the area.
Dendy temporarily closed following the assault but expects to resume operations later on Monday, as authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
