Kulim Husband Stabs Wife 13 Times, Jealousy Believed to Be Motive
Police said the unemployed suspect admitted stabbing his wife 13 times after an argument and later surrendered with the knife.
On Monday, a 39-year-old woman identified as S. Sila died after allegedly being stabbed 13 times by her husband at their home in Taman Tiram, Kulim. She was pronounced dead at Kulim Hospital at 9:30 PM.
Kulim District Police Chief Superintendent Syamsul Sinring stated that preliminary investigations suggest the attack stemmed from an argument between the couple, believed to have been triggered by jealousy. The incident occurred in the master bedroom where the couple lived with their three-year-old child.
The 43-year-old suspect allegedly used a 20-centimetre folding knife in the attack. Forensic teams collected 11 samples from the scene, including traces believed to be blood on the bedsheet, pillow, and headboard.
After the incident, the suspect bathed and collected his three-year-old child from a babysitter before handing the child to his sister at the Juru Rest and Service Area in Penang. He then surrendered at the Lunas Police Station at 8:40 PM.
The victim's body was transferred to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination. Police are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which addresses murder.
