Dallas Wings Star Arike Ogunbowale Has Miami Nightclub Battery Charges Dropped, Report Says
The prosecutor withdrew the misdemeanor battery case after video and police records documented the alleged nightclub altercation.
On Wednesday, the Florida State Attorney's Office dropped the misdemeanor battery charge against Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale, ending the criminal case stemming from a March incident at a Miami nightclub.
Police arrested Ogunbowale on March 5 following an alleged altercation at a Miami nightclub, where reports claimed she punched a man 'in the face with a closed fist, causing him to fall to the ground.'
Attorney Mitch Schuster of Meister Seelig & Schuster said the defense is 'pleased that the State Attorney's Office has exercised its discretion and elected not to move forward,' calling Ogunbowale a 'person of outstanding character.'
With no further hearings scheduled, the Wings open the season Saturday against the Indiana Fever, allowing Ogunbowale to refocus on her professional career.
A four-time All-Star, Ogunbowale recently signed a two-year deal worth about $2.44 million to remain with the Wings, underscoring her standing as a WNBA elite scorer.
