Millwall and West Ham Draw 2-2 in Return to Old Rivalry
Mohamadou Kante and Konstantinos Mavropanos scored after halftime as West Ham recovered from a 2-goal deficit and finished with 10 men.
West Ham salvaged a 2-2 draw from a heated London derby at Millwall on Saturday, finishing with 10 men after a late dismissal.
Millwall dominated the opening half, taking a 2-0 lead through Caleb Taylor's 16th-minute strike and a goal from Camiel Neghli before the break.
Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo introduced Mohamadou Kante and Pablo Felipe at halftime; Kante scored in the 74th minute before Konstantinos Mavropanos headed home with 10 minutes remaining.
Late drama erupted when Kante received a red card for pulling back Kyrell Lisbie as he raced through on goal. West Ham held firm with 10 men to secure the point.
The Metropolitan Police deployed 400 officers across London to prevent violence at the fixture, the first meeting between rivals since 2012. No immediate trouble was reported.
The Greek international stopper equalized the match with a header, Millwall led 2-0, without any particular surprises in the derby before kick-off and during it.
