After a first unsuccessful attempt, the Argentine government put in private hands the waterway of the Paraná and Paraguay rivers, a key corridor for Mercosur exports. This Thursday at the last minute confirmed that the concession was awarded to the Belgian multinational Jan De Nul, who will be in charge for 25 years of this route by which cargo ships from five South American countries leave towards the Atlantic.
The Government confirmed that the Belgian company Jan De Nul, which does the maintenance work 30 years ago of the Via Navegable Troncal (VNT), won the tender of the Hydrovia and stays with the business for the next 25 years.
