What ‘Will Trent’ Fans Can Expect From Season 5
The renewal follows Season 4 ratings of nearly 5 million viewers per episode and a .30 key demo rating, ABC said.
ABC officially renewed Will Trent for Season 5 after the crime drama averaged nearly 5 million linear viewers per episode during its fourth season.
The upcoming season follows a tumultuous fourth installment that saw the deaths of Amanda Wagner and Seth, creating what coshowrunner Karine Rosenthal called a "painful but exciting" reset for the GBI team.
Returning cast members including Erika Christensen and Faith Mitchell will navigate new dynamics, with Will serving as co-parent to Angie Polaski and Seth's daughter, Edie.
Coshowrunner Karine Rosenthal confirmed that Appleyard is just a "placeholder," meaning a new character will eventually earn the GBI deputy director role.
While the premiere date remains unannounced, the show is expected to return as a midseason entry in January or February 2027, continuing its run of high-stakes investigations.
