BCWS Sends Bucketing Helicopter, Five Personnel to Small Wildfire Burning West of Chase
BC Wildfire Service has five personnel and a bucketing helicopter at the scene as the fire is estimated at 0.1 hectares.
On Monday, the BC Wildfire Service discovered a wildfire near Chase, prompting an immediate emergency response to the incident along Highway 1.
Situated in the Harper Lake area near the Neskonlith reserve, the fire is burning two kilometres west of the Trans-Canada Highway.
Currently estimated at less than 1 hectare, the wildfire has sparked an evacuation order for the nearby First Nation community.
The BCWS has deployed five personnel and a bucketing helicopter to the scene to actively suppress the blaze and contain its spread.
Officials report the wildfire is currently burning out of control and is expected to spread beyond the current perimeter, requiring ongoing monitoring.
