There is little official information about the crash of Flight 240, no passenger list, no black box, no conversation between the plane and Lebanese air traffic control. There are theories about a downed plane and suspicious cargo, and it is possible that the truth lies among the contemnors.

On September 30, 1975, a Malév Tu-154 plane with sixty passengers was destroyed off the coast of Beirut. The official cause of the accident is still unknown.
