Argentine Court Clears Return of Nazi-Looted Portrait to Jewish Dealer’s Heir
The painting was identified in a Mar del Plata house and the owner’s family agreed to return it with $3,200 for local hospitals, officials said.

- Photographs of a house for sale in Mar del Plata revealed the painting hanging in the home of Patricia Kadgien, daughter of Friedrich Kadgien, a Nazi financial official who fled to Argentina.
- Following their arrest for concealment, Kadgien and her husband agreed to return the artwork to Marei Saher, the sole heir, and make donations to local hospitals rather than face trial.
- After World War II, the Dutch state retrieved approximately 300 works from Goudstikker's collection, but many more stolen pieces remain scattered globally, awaiting recovery by rightful owners and their heirs.
