Torrential rains that have battered the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have killed at least ten people and caused flooding and collapsed homes, UN humanitarian agencies reported Friday. Local hospitals reported the deaths of two children from causes related to the rains.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said this Friday that it has received reports that at least 10 people have died in Gaza in the last 24 hours due to heavy rains and cold caused by a storm hitting this territory."This highlights the threats to life faced by families who have no safe place to go," said the head of the WHO operation for Palestine, Rik Peeperkorn, in a teleconference link with the press in Geneva.
