- On Thursday, The Vancouver Whitecaps announced the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Emrick Fotsing from Canadian Premier League side Vancouver FC, securing him through the 2029-30 campaign with a club option for the following season.
- Hailing from Mascouche, Que., Fotsing is a CF Montreal Academy product who developed through the CPL, recording four goals across 39 appearances for Vancouver FC since joining in February 2025.
- The agreement represents the largest transfer in Vancouver FC's history and the second-largest in CPL history. Fotsing will rehabilitate a hip injury sustained with Canada's U-20 side before returning to Vancouver FC on loan.
- Sporting director Axel Schuster praised Fotsing's 'technical ability, intelligence, and character' while the midfielder described his CPL experience as 'really important' for preparing him for this opportunity.
- After his loan, Fotsing will join the Whitecaps ahead of the 2027 condensed 'sprint' season. He recently helped Canada qualify for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup during the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Mexico.
