OKC Thunder Media Day: Jalen Williams' Return, SGA's Summer Improvements and More
Gilgeous-Alexander said the Thunder’s new additions will be tested as the team replaces three close friends and depth pieces after a summer of change.
- On Monday, Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander addressed roster turnover at Media Day, fielding questions about losing three talented depth pieces who were also close personal friends.
- Unlike last year, when 99% of the championship roster remained intact, the Thunder enters this season with a significantly different composition following an offseason marked by extensive player departures.
- Gilgeous-Alexander described the difficulty of losing long-time teammates Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins, and Isaiah Joe, emphasizing that the hardest part involves losing daily off-court relationships and brotherhood.
- Emphasizing that roster turnover is "the business of the NBA," Gilgeous-Alexander expressed excitement about new additions and figuring out how to make each other better on the court.
- Teammate Jalen Williams, who missed 49 games last season, viewed the offseason changes as a "test" of character and used the time to return fully healthy and motivated.
