August of this year brought a serious decline in tourism in Hungary. According to recent data from the KSH, nearly 2.6 million guests arrived at the Hungarian tourist accommodation, who spent a total of 6.9 million guest nights. The number of guests was 7.3 percent and the number of guest nights was 5.8 percent lower than a year earlier.
In August, 7.3 percent fewer guests arrived at Hungarian tourist accommodations than a year earlier. The decline affected both domestic and foreign guests, the number of the latter decreasing by 13 percent.
