AUSTRIA'S ruling coalition has decided to extend the measure to limit fuel prices for another month.
The fuel price brake is extended; without margin limit. The Ministry of Economic Affairs informs. Finally, there was relaxation at the gas stations, the fuel prices had recently fallen again.
The fuel price brake will be renewed until the end of September, as announced by the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Monday. The reduction of the mineral oil tax by 1.9 cents per litre will be maintained. Nevertheless, Head of Department Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer (ÖVP) stressed that one does not want to intervene permanently in the market.
However, SPÖ and ÖGB could not prevail against ÖVP and Neos, who were skeptical about such market interventions.
In its current, reduced form, the measure will be valid until the end of September, with the gasoline tax still being reduced by 1.9 cents per liter.
