Amit Shah Attacks TMC for 'Neglecting' Gorkhas, Promises Fast-Track Solution for Bengal Hills if BJP Wins
Shah said an interlocutor will report back after talks with Gorkha groups, and the BJP will restore deleted voter names and review alleged cases.
On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah pledged at a Kurseong rally that the BJP would resolve the decades-old Gorkha issue within six months if elected to govern West Bengal.
Shah claimed the central government appointed retired IPS officer Pankaj Kumar Singh as interlocutor after West Bengal government representatives repeatedly failed to attend meetings over the last six years.
During the Special Intensive Revision process, the minister accused the administration of excluding Gorkha names from electoral rolls, promising, "Once the BJP government is formed in West Bengal, all such names will be included."
Comparing state spending, Shah alleged the Trinamul Congress government earmarked Rs 2,000 crores for Gorkha welfare while Rs 5,000 crores supported Muslim and Madrasah education, demonstrating alleged injustice.
"Within six months of the BJP forming the government in West Bengal, every Gorkha will have a smile on his face," Shah said, vowing to find a lasting solution for the hill community.
