CJP's Ashutosh Ranka Warns Against ‘Threat Politics’ in Bengal over Venue Cancellations
The party said six Kolkata venues pulled out after government warnings, and police have arrested eight people in the case that prompted the meetings.
On Tuesday, the Cockroach Janata Party claimed its press conferences and meetings across six locations in Kolkata were cancelled after the West Bengal government allegedly pressured venue authorities to block the events.
The cancellations follow the CJP's nationwide 'School Thik Karo' campaign, where volunteer Abdul Hafiz's father died on Saturday after an alleged attack by Bharatiya Janata Party workers while inspecting a government school in Bankura.
CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka claimed on social media that venue owners received threats from BJP leaders, forcing the closure of Bharat Sabha Hall and five other sites. Ranka stated the BJP is "scared" of the CJP.
Regarding the alleged assault, the West Bengal Police denied brutality allegations, stating Hafiz sustained only a "minor injury that requires a single stitch." Eight people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
CJP's east zone coordinator Ankit Bharadwaj warned the group would gherao the Bankura District Collector's office if authorities fail to arrest 10 accused within 10 days, fulfilling the CJP's demands for justice and compensation.
