The U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, said that the joint strategy between the two countries seeks to affect criminal organizations by tracking and dismantling the economic resources that sustain their operations. “We’re going after what hurts the cartels the most: their money,” he said.
The U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, shared in his X account an official document detailing a joint action between the Trump and Sheinbaum administrations, in which both nations agreed to prioritize the dismantling of the financial networks, assets and intermediaries of drug trafficking cartels.
The U.S. Embassy stated in a statement that both countries are seeking to attack the illicit resources, financial networks and corruption that sustain criminal organizations.
