A new emergency plan for child and adolescent psychiatry is intended to reduce waiting times for children, adolescents and their families. The cornerstone of the plan is to strengthen capacity by, among other things, involving many more professional groups.
The government, with its new emergency plan, is trying both to provide more capacity here and now and to prevent as many children ending up in line for psychiatry. It's a big political election promise with the Prime Minister's name on it. But some of the plan's key solutions are being screwed up before politicians know how well they work.
