The WDR wants to lead the way as a good model for saving in the ARD and to delete 300 of its 600 programmes in the coming years. Now it is known what is the first thing that disappears.
The WDR is undergoing a comprehensive restructuring: by the end of 2027, the largest ARD station intends to cancel 76 offers and reduce staff. At the same time, more resources will be transferred to the digital, and the evening program will gain in importance.
The WDR has to save and invest at the same time - viewers will soon feel this in the program. Moreover, every third job freed by retirement will not be filled by 2030.
The Westdeutscher Rundfunk is facing a drastic change. By 2030, one in three positions, which will be released by retirement, will not be filled again.
