‘Watson’ Just Delivered Another Major Sherlock Holmes Twist Ahead of Series Finale
A murder outside UHOP brings a figure from Watson and Sherlock Holmes’s past as the series finale nears, CBS said.
The Series Finale, titled "The Cobalt Fissure," airs this Sunday on CBS and features a major twist: Robert Carlyle returns as Sherlock Holmes, appearing alive rather than as a hallucination of Dr. John Watson .
Viewers previously believed Sherlock was merely a symptom of John Watson's glioblastoma tumor, making this revelation a major narrative reversal that upends the established explanation for the detective's appearances throughout the series.
In the penultimate Episode, Shinwell Johnson discovered Sherlock sitting on a hospital gurney at UHOP, looking "rough and confused" and asking, "Do I know you?" upon encountering him.
Nurse Carlin DaCosta was interrupted while proposing to Shinwell Johnson during her shift when an emergency room call forced him away, leading him to discover the mysterious patient.
The Series Finale, canceled after two seasons, announced Eddie Izzard will guest star as Sebastian Moran, adding another layer of intrigue as the show concludes its narrative arc on May 3.
