Walls HRs from both sides of the plate for 2nd time in his career as Rays beat A's 12-4

On Tuesday, 30-year-old shortstop Taylor Walls homered from both sides of the plate, leading the AL-leading Tampa Bay Rays to a 12-4 victory over the Athletics. The performance marked the second time in Walls' career he achieved this feat.
Walls' homers ended a 105-game regular-season drought dating to July 27, 2025. He last accomplished this rare feat on April 18, 2023, against the Cincinnati Reds, becoming the fifth player this season to homer from both sides.
Nick Martinez tossed a 101-pitch complete game to secure the win, while Junior Caminero launched a 412-foot blast. Yandy Diaz, Carson Williams, and Victor Mesa contributed home runs as Tampa Bay banged out 11 total hits.
The Tampa Bay Rays won their eighth straight game, extending their dominance in the AL East. Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson saw his MLB-record 112-game errorless streak end in the eighth inning on a throwing error.
Tampa Bay sends RHP Drew Rasmussen to the mound on Wednesday for the finale of the three-game series against the Athletics. The Athletics have not yet announced a starting pitcher for the matchup.
