Wallowa Whitman National Forest begins prescribed burning near La Grande today

LA GRANDE – The Wallowa Whitman National forest announced that, assuming conditions remain favorable, prescribed fire operations will begin near La Grande today. The specific burning operation will take place in the Limber Jim project area, roughly 20 miles southwest of La Grande (see map).  Burning is planned to begin around 10:00 a.m. this morning and will be around 135 acres in size, according to the Blue Mountain Interagency Dispatch Center.…
