KIEV. Reports of starvation are coming from the frontline town of Oleshky, and residents are trying to leave the bombed-out community on foot. Ukrainian authorities are appealing for a ceasefire to allow evacuations – but are getting no response from the Kremlin.
The last thousands of inhabitants of the Ukrainian front-line town of Olesjky are trapped like rats. Russian soldiers have littered the access roads with mines, preventing anyone from entering or leaving the city. Food, drinking water, and medicine are running out, and hunger is setting in. The only way out remains is the infamous ‘death road’.
