At the end of November, the voters decide whether the additional expenditure for the 13th AHV pension will be financed at least partly by an increase in VAT. Or whether the gap in pension provision will increase.
At a press conference, the Federal Councillor presented the Federal Government decision on supplementary financing.
The financing of the 13th AVS pension must go through an increase of VAT, according to the Federal Council. The latter defends on Monday an increase of 0.4 percentage point, from 8.1 to 8.5%, with a view to the vote on 29 November. The double majority will be required for the vote.
At the end of the year, the 13th AHV pension will be paid out for the first time. According to the Federal Council, it will be financed by an increase in VAT. Switzerland will vote on it on 29 November.
