Volunteers help ensure fire safety of the High Rolls community

High Rolls Volunteer Fire Department members train regularly to protect their community, practicing equipment use, rescue knots, protective gear, hose deployment and wildland firefighting skills. The department responds to medical calls, traffic accidents and trail rescues, but faces a nationwide shortage of volunteers. Residents can help through the auxiliary, station cleaning, fundraising and community events.
