Volkswagen Announces Mission Efficiency. It's Not a Strategy But a New Record-Breaking Prototype

- Instead of exotic powertrains, Volkswagen focused on extreme aerodynamics and weight reduction, utilizing a self-supporting aluminum structure with high-strength CFRP components recalling designer Ferdinand Piech's Volkswagen XL1 prototypes.
- Built on the MEB platform, the prototype measures 4,775 mm long and 1,392 mm tall, featuring a 2+2 coupe arrangement, a 54.9 kWh battery pack, and a 99 kW electric motor.
- During a documented test drive, the vehicle traveled 1,278 km from the German Development Centre in Wolfsburg, via Poland and the Czech Republic, to Vienna, achieving a top speed of 138 kph.
