Odom Agrees to Contract Extension Through 2032 at Virginia
Ryan Odom’s first season produced a 15-5 ACC mark and a second-place finish, prompting Virginia to lock him in through 2031-32.
On Tuesday, Aug. 18, University of Virginia Director of Athletics Carla Williams announced that Dean and Markel Families Men's Head Basketball Coach Ryan Odom agreed to a contract extension running through March 2032.
Odom earned the extension following a strong inaugural campaign in 2025-26, guiding the Cavaliers to a 30-6 record and second-place ACC finish while reaching the NCAA Tournament's second round.
While specific terms of the new deal remain undisclosed, Odom's original six-year contract featured a $3,250,000 base salary with $100,000 annual increases; he maintains a 252-166 career coaching record.
The extension arrives despite recent staff departures, as associate head coach Griff Aldrich left to lead Pepperdine and strength and conditioning coach Mike Curtis departed for an NBA role.
Odom has positioned Virginia for continued success by retaining his entire rotation and adding promising transfers including Jurian Dixon and wing Nolan Adekunle for the 2026-27 season.
