- His diplomatic career spans postings in the United States, South Korea, Bangladesh, and Uzbekistan. He also served in the Prime Minister's Office as private secretary to the prime minister.
- Doraiswami will succeed Pradeep Kumar Rawat as India's envoy to China. The Ministry of External Affairs stated he is "expected to take up the assignment shortly."
- The appointment arrives as New Delhi and Beijing seek to repair ties strained since the 2020 Galwan Valley clash in eastern Ladakh. A prolonged military standoff severely affected bilateral relations.
