Two Suspects Identified After 77-Year Old Beaten
Prosecutors say the victim suffered broken bones and was hospitalized for at least a week, and they are seeking $200,000 bail for the suspect.
Surveillance video released by Seattle police shows two men violently beating a 77-year-old man near Third Avenue and Pike Street in downtown Seattle during an unprovoked attack.
The victim sustained a broken arm, a broken knee, and a forehead gash, requiring at least a week of hospitalization. Recovery at age 77 is significantly harder than for younger patients, officials noted.
Real-Time Crime Center footage captured suspect Abdullahi Osman attempting to kick the defenseless victim before he "casually walked away." Despite video evidence, Osman denied any involvement when questioned by police.
Witnesses pointed Osman out to officers near a McDonald restaurant, leading to his arrest. Prosecutors subsequently charged the 29-year-old with second-degree assault.
Prosecutors requested bail be set at $200,000 for Osman, with his arraignment scheduled for May 13 to address the second-degree assault charge.
