Dangote Refinery Set For IPO Signing Ceremony In Lagos
The offering will raise about $1.6 billion and could deepen Nigeria’s capital market while increasing domestic ownership of a strategic industrial asset.
On September 14, the Dangote Refinery IPO opens, aiming to raise roughly $1.6 billion by issuing 4.1 billion ordinary shares at N525 per share on the Nigerian Exchange.
SEC approval allows the 700,000-barrel-per-day Dangote Refinery to proceed with listing, clearing the path for Initial Public Offering on the Nigerian Exchange after nearly 10 years of construction and $20 billion investment.
Professor Godwin Oyedokun called the approval a significant development for Nigeria, explaining that the transaction could deepen the capital market and increase domestic ownership of strategic assets.
Before subscribing, investors should study the prospectus, financial performance, and projected earnings, with Oyedokun emphasizing valuation comparisons against international refiners to assess opportunity.
Interest among prospective investors remains high for Africa's largest refinery listing, which could provide a new benchmark for valuing large industrial companies and attract foreign investment to Nigeria.
The Dangote mega-refinery will soon be listed on the stock market in Lagos. The Nigerian regulator approved on September 4th this introduction, which is due to take place on September 14th. Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man, seeks to raise $1.6 billion in what could be Africa's largest stock exchange introduction. The aim is to finance the expansion of its infrastructure in order to eventually double its production capacity.
