Vice-President Radhakrishnan Stresses Water Conservation, Calls for Technology-Driven Management

- Radhakrishnan advocated for integrated river-basin management and efficient irrigation to handle rainfall extremes, reiterating his proposal to link the Ganges with the Cauvery to ensure national water requirements are fully met.
- Organized by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti, the five-day event includes 49 sessions across water sector themes, with Union Jal Shakti Minister Patil emphasizing that no single institution can address water challenges alone.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration has signed 10 inter-state MoUs to resolve water-sharing disputes, though recent climate disasters like the 2023 Sikkim incident underscore the need to adapt management strategies to changing risks.
