DOJ Highlights Utah Mail Carrier Case in Push for Stricter Ballot Tracking
Federal officials said the Utah case showed 300 ballots were discarded and argued stricter USPS tracking could help deter mail-in voting fraud.

- Residents in Eagle Mountain had previously complained to the Utah County Clerk about missing ballots, while Seei claimed he threw away the mail "because he wanted to 'lighten his workload' so he could presumably go home earlier."
- McCotter noted the department has charged 70 immigrants with illegally voting since January 2025 and intends to bring "many more" cases to combat election fraud.
- With 95% of Utah voters casting ballots by mail, the debate continues over whether stricter tracking regulations are necessary or politically motivated, even as the U.S. Constitution grants states authority to administer elections.
