On Monday (October 5), the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a stern warning to foreign financial institutions worldwide: any institution that continues to do business with Iran or its financial sector may be subject to U.S. sanctions at any time without prior notice.
"Foreign financial institutions trading with Iranian institutions could be subject to measures," the Treasury said.
