President Donald Trump’s government yesterday imposed new sanctions aimed at leaders of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP) for their alleged links with “Marxist subversive networks and corrupt economic practices,” and nine state enterprises he pointed to as “sustaining the repressive apparatus of the regime.”
The new sanctions are directed against the Cuban Ministry of Construction, several state companies from the metal and mining sectors and three high-ranking representatives of the Institute for Friendship of the Peoples.
