United States Postal Service Begins Accepting Letters to Santa
The 100-year-old program lets individuals and groups adopt letters, with submissions required to be postmarked by Dec. 5.
On Monday, the United States Postal Service began accepting holiday letters for its "Operation Santa" initiative, allowing children and families to send requests to the North Pole.
Although Christmas is more than three months away, the Postal Service continues a tradition spanning more than 100 years, helping Santa prepare for the season.
Letters must follow program guidelines and be postmarked by Dec. 5, 2026, to be eligible for adoption; participants should address mail to "Santa Claus" at 123 Elf Road, North Pole.
"For some, the simple act of exchanging even small gifts is out of reach," said Sheila Holman, vice president of marketing for the Postal Service.
Registration for individuals or groups to adopt letters begins November 2, with the adoption window opening November 16, though the Postal Service reminds participants that adoption is not guaranteed.
