Nigel Farage Accused of Avoiding BBC Scrutiny Ahead of Key Local Elections
The Reform UK leader missed a live BBC interview as scrutiny grew over an undeclared £5 million donation from cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne.
On Sunday, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage skipped a scheduled BBC interview on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, drawing accusations of "dodging scrutiny days before crucial local elections."
Christopher Harborne's £5 million donation, revealed earlier this week, sparked mounting pressure after Farage failed to declare the gift before his 2024 election as a Member of Parliament.
Parliamentary regulations mandate that Members of Parliament declare donations received in the 12 months before an election, prompting Labour's Anna Turley to claim Farage "appears to have broken the rules again."
Tory leader Kemi Badenoch branded him "too scared" to face an interview, while Green Party leader Zack Polanski claimed the Clacton MP "didn't even bother to turn up today because he's on the run."
Reform insists the money was a "personal unconditional gift" while facing local elections next week, where the party is predicted to add more than a thousand councillors to regional authorities.
