U.S. Government Moves $103 Million in Seized Bitcoin and BNB, Sending BTC to Coinbase Prime
On-chain analysts said the transfers could be custody moves, but no federal agency has announced a sale.
On Tuesday, Government-linked wallets transferred more than $100 million in crypto, including 833.6 BTC and 40,285 BNB, according to Arkham, prompting speculation regarding potential asset liquidation.
The Bitcoin was sent to Coinbase Prime, while the BNB passed through several addresses before reaching an unlabeled wallet. EmberCN data indicates the BTC reached the platform, though this does not confirm a sale.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March 2025 creating the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and Digital Asset Stockpile. Bitcoin deposited into the reserve "shall not be sold."
"A transfer is not the same as a sale," market commentator Jose Rosell said. The Marshals Service selected Coinbase Prime for custody and trading services, though no sale was announced.
Government-Linked addresses still hold around $28 billion in digital assets, mostly Bitcoin. The Treasury determines management strategies for non-Bitcoin assets, including BNB from Alameda Research holdings.
