US futures edge lower under sustained pressure from bond markets
The 10-year Treasury yield held near 5.27% as investors awaited Federal Reserve minutes and fresh data on services, jobs and consumer sentiment.
Futures declined 0.2% on Wednesday as investors monitored elevated Treasury yields, rising oil prices, and broader economic uncertainty amid ongoing bond market pressure.
Treasury yields recently surged to more than 20-year highs as investors assess the outlook for inflation and the Federal Reserve's interest-rate path, increasing borrowing costs for equities.
The 10-year Treasury yield held at 5.27%, while the 30-year yield was near 5.63%; Brent crude prices remained above $100 a barrel, adding concern about a potential pullback in equities.
Global markets reflected this caution, with the euro falling to a 17-month low amid political gridlock in France; shares of RXO Inc. jumped more than 20% on a $5.8 billion buyout by C.H. Robinson Worldwide.
Investors now look ahead to the Federal Reserve's latest meeting minutes later this week for policy clues, while markets await earnings from PepsiCo, Delta Air Lines, and Levi Strauss alongside unemployment data.
