Adm. Brad Cooper said the volume of oil, natural gas and cargo transiting over the past two weeks is the highest it has been in six months.
CENTCOM reported that over 2,000 ships have crossed the route under military protection in recent months.
The American military has in recent months facilitated the passage of more than 1 billion barrels of oil from the Persian Gulf through the Ormuz Strait, and announced on Saturday to the head of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Brad Cooper.
