- Operation Tidal Wave seeks to identify crew members linked to the possession, production, or distribution of child sexual abuse materials. Acting Director of Field Operations Julio Caravia emphasized the agency's commitment to protecting the vulnerable from exploitation.
- Previous phases targeted 27 crew members in San Diego last April and 14 individuals in San Juan during June and July, demonstrating enforcement actions across multiple ports. The operation highlights a broader maritime industry effort to address exploitation.
- Bobby Prieto, a Philippine national who worked on the Norwegian Jewel, was arrested after customs officials found media files on his cellphones depicting abuse. Recent enforcement actions also targeted the Norwegian Breakaway, resulting in expedited deportations or criminal prosecution.
- The Port of Boston operation continues through the end of the fiscal year on Wednesday, September 30, with no reported delays for cruise lines. It remains unclear whether the operation will expand to other regions in the new fiscal year.
