Like 'The Dink,' Pickleball Was Medicine for Husband
Lower seeds knocked out top teams in mixed and women’s doubles, while Jack Munro and Richard Livornese Jr. won their third straight men’s pro doubles title.
Returning home this past weekend, the Association of Pickleball Players Chicago Open benefited Shriners Children and featured 53 teams in the Mixed Pro Doubles draw, where lower-ranked squads frequently ousted top seeds.
Before the main event, the APP held its Pro Invitational, where top professionals competed in "out of the hat" mixed-doubles matches with quick, eight-minute timed games.
Securing their third straight Men's Pro Doubles title, Jack Munro and Richard Livornese Jr. led the winners, while Vivian Glozman and Roos van Reek claimed the Women's Pro doubles gold, marking Glozman's first title since September 2023.
Additional champions included Ammar Wazir, who defended his 2025 Chicago Open title, and Karin Ptaszek-Kochis, who earned her 18th career APP Champions singles win, plus Pialena Ander and Marcello Jardim in Mixed Champions Pro Doubles.
The APP continues expanding its global reach, partnering with the European Pickleball Federation to power the 2026 European Pickleball Open and doubling its 2027 total tour purse to $3 million, supporting 50 events.
