'Hard To Look At': Updated Google Maps Images Reveal Gaza's Destruction
A UN report published on September 24 estimated that around 1.9 million people in Gaza had been displaced, with many forced to move more than once. It also said more than 60 percent of the population had lost their homes.
The devastating damage caused by the Israeli army's bombardments of the Gaza Strip since October 2023 is reflected in updated satellite images from Google Maps.
Graves, residential areas and an entire village in southern Gaza have disappeared from the map. Several of the locations are now occupied by Israeli military outposts, according to updated satellite images in Google Earth.
