The unveiling of the statue of the first Governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, was carried out by the municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupoli, while the Town Hall Square was renamed Governor Ioannis Kapodistrias Square. At the event that followed at the "Mikis Theodorakis" Cultural Center, Mayor Yannis Konstantatos honored the director Yannis Smaragdis and the sculptor Yannis Bardis, who created the statue.
