Due to a technical malfunction in air traffic control, numerous flights have failed in the UK. Affected airlines are now demanding personnel consequences – while passengers need patience.
A technical malfunction in British air traffic control also has significant consequences on air traffic in the UK on the second day. According to flight data portal Flightradar24, almost 250 flights had already been cancelled on Wednesday to 6.00 o'clock alone, most of them at Heathrow Airport in London.
Thousands of passengers were affected by the disruption. Flight tracking site FlightRadar24 reported that nearly 1,000 flights were canceled due to a malfunction affecting air traffic control service provider Nats.
NATS, a 49% state-owned British air traffic controller, provides services at 15 airports in the United Kingdom, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
