UMNO To Raise Funds For Najib’s RM50 Million Fine Following House Arrest Decision
UMNO says the drive will be voluntary and transparent as it seeks contributions from members and supporters to cover Najib Razak’s RM50 million fine.
Following the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, UMNO has launched a fundraising drive to help him pay the RM50 million fine imposed as part of his clemency.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, recently granted Najib a conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest instead of in prison.
UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urged party members and supporters to contribute voluntarily, promising the initiative would be conducted transparently and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
With all humility, UMNO expressed deepest gratitude to the monarchy, stating that respect for the Constitution and the rule of law will remain the party's guiding principles.
Under the decision, Najib will serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, subject to conditions that include the RM50 million fine payment.
